Procurement Manager
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to join our team and oversee procurement activities for our company’s projects and bidding processes. The Procurement Manager will be instrumental in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services essential for our construction projects. This role requires strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and effective collaboration with project managers, engineers, and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.
Duties:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies tailored to construction projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Lead the procurement team in sourcing materials, civil, equipment, piping, pumps, electrical components, heavy equipment spare parts and services required for project execution and bidding, adhering to MEP design specifications.
- Receiving bidding BOQ from the QS department verifying the technical specifications, categorizing the requirements accordingly and collaborate closely with the procurement team, providing guidance on which categories and items require procurement offers from suppliers.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms that meet the specific conditions of water treatment projects.
- Collaborate closely with MEP engineers and project managers to align procurement activities with project timelines and MEP requirements.
- Manage procurement budgets, ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices while adhering to project budgets.
- Implement risk management strategies to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements in MEP procurement activities.
- Review and approve purchase orders and requisitions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Monitor daily procurement activities and provide guidance to the team.
- Monitor supplier performance, promptly address issues or concerns, and maintain smooth project operations.
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and transporting products.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize warehouse efficiency and reduce costs.
- Coordinate and manage logistics operations, including inventory control, transportation, and warehousing.
- Foster collaboration between the warehouse team and other departments to ensure timely and cost-effective fulfillment of requirements.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Manage equipment repairs to minimize downtime and maximize availability.
- Review and analyze equipment maintenance, repair reports, transportation reports, diesel consumption reports, and equipment rental reports.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for management review.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM).
- Proven experience as a procurement manager or in a similar role within the construction or engineering industry, with specific experience in water treatment plant projects preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to effectively manage supplier contracts.
- Familiarity with MEP systems, contract management, and procurement terms and conditions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure, and meet deadlines effectively.
